The 12 Isekai Anime With Guns Or Firearms

Isekai is a popular anime genre. It involves a particular setting where the main character is suddenly transported to another world or dimension. This genre gives off a fantasy vibe but some titles are more grounded than others.

In this article we list a few Isekai anime that feature guns, making them more realistic than other titles in the same genre.

You wouldn’t expect guns in a fantasy world but there are edge cases where firearms make sense in the context of the series.

This ranking is based on our opinions and personal experience.

12. Arifureta

Arifureta

A class of high school students is transported to a parallel fantasy world as a group of heroes who must save it from destruction.

All the students are found to possess excellent skills except Nagumo Hajime, who becomes a weak crafter with very low statistics.

One day, while exploring a dungeon, Nagumo falls into a seemingly bottomless abyss. At the bottom, he finds a blonde vampire over three hundred years old, despite appearing much younger, imprisoned there.

The two will fall in love, kicking off a romance in a few episodes. The use of CGI, bad animations, and awkward moments are what make Arifureta mediocre but extremely funny to watch because it’s just bad.

Arifureta displays many huge and over-the-top weapons throughout the entire series. They are fun to see in action but they’re not realistic in any way.

It’s also one of the best isekai anime with experience levels that we recommend if you like the trope.

11. The Familiar of Zero

The Familiar of Zero

Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière is a mage who studies at Tristain Academy. She is unable to cast magic spells properly so she is mocked and called Louise the Zero.

One day in class one of Louise’s spells results in an explosion that results in the summoning of a boy named Saito Hiraga from the real world of Japan.

He will be treated like a slave but Louise will quickly realize that Saito is special as he starts to acquire many new abilities that will be helpful throughout the whole show.

Eventually, the fantasy world will suffer geo-political turmoil so, despite the pretty regular premises, the plot will develop in the following seasons. There will be many warlike events during which firearms and war equipment will be shown regularly.

10. In Another World with my Smartphone

In Another World with my Smartphone is a 2017 isekai anime that is underrated compared to other titles in its genre. It’s a comic adventure that combines harem and fantasy themes.

Touya Mochizuki is an ordinary 15-year-old student who is unexpectedly struck by lightning and killed.

But when he arrives in front of the god of thunder, since it all was an unlucky mistake, he is offered a chance to be reincarnated in another world, with the added bonus of being able to keep his beloved smartphone.

That’s how begins Touya’s new life in a medieval fantasy world, armed with his trusty smartphone and all its modern capabilities.

You can easily tell why we consider this anime one of the best isekai anime with an overpowered Mc, given that he has access to modern technology and yes, even guns and firearms.

In Another World with my Smartphone is a good isekai anime, which manages to be enjoyable and entertaining due to its lighthearted atmosphere and fun premise, but don’t expect a masterpiece either.

9. High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!

High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World! is an isekai anime with a long name that flew under the radar compared to its peers, but in our opinion, it’s worth discovering.

The story follows seven high school students who survive a tragic plane crash and find themselves in a fantasy world filled with all sorts of creatures.

The twist? All seven are true prodigies and masterminds, rising to power and gaining the highest offices in their respective fields of expertise soon.

While the plot isn’t the most original, it’s still a good isekai with a different premise than usual.

8. Death March to Parallel World Rhapsody

Death March to Parallel World Rhapsody is an anime that came out in 2018, and it’s an isekai with 12 episodes. It has elements of fantasy, romance, and harem.

Ichiro Suzuki is a developer who’s 29 years old, and he’s working hard on a project that’s fated to fail.

After being exhausted from work, he decides to take a nap at his workplace. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a mysterious fantasy world, where there are experience levels and weapons, just like in an RPG.

But as you can imagine, trouble is not far behind.

Overall, Death March to Parallel World Rhapsody is an okay isekai. As you can see it starts with premises that have been done before and doesn’t explore them well enough, with too many ecchi and harem scenes.

However, we don’t think it’s terrible, so we would still recommend it if you’re interested in this genre or want to give it a try.

7. Combatants Will Be Dispatched!

Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is an isekai anime released in 2021 that combines action, sci-fi, and ecchi elements.

The story begins at the base of the Kisaragi secret society, a powerful corporation with plans to conquer the universe.

The protagonist, Agent No. 6, and his android assistant are sent to a world believed to be alien to begin their conquest.

However, upon arrival, they find themselves in a fantasy world full of elves, princesses, and unicorns, throwing a wrench into their mission.

Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is a decent isekai with a unique twist of using modern weaponry, but despite its interesting plot, it can be quite predictable as the series continues.

6. Those Who Hunt Elves

Those Who Hunt Elves is an isekai anime released in 1996 in 12 episodes, with a focus on outlandish situations and humor.

The anime follows Airi, Ritsuko, and Junpei, who are mysteriously transported to a fantasy world.

The catch? These three characters are not your typical isekai heroes, and along with them, an actual military tank is transported in this world too. Airi is an eccentric actress, Ritsuko is a gun enthusiast, and Junpei is a demented martial arts expert.

Together, they embark on absurd and hilarious adventures in their quest to find pieces of a magical spell that will return them to their own world.

Those Who Hunt Elves is a one-of-a-kind isekai that is worth watching for its zany humor and offbeat characters.

5. Drifters

Drifters

Drifters is an isekai anime that is often overlooked despite its potential. Based on the manga by Kota Hirano, the same author behind the masterpiece Hellsing, it consists of 12 episodes that were released in 2016.

The story begins in the Sengoku era, where a young samurai is on the brink of losing his life in battle. However, instead of dying, he finds himself transported to an unknown world, where he meets other warriors from various historical eras.

What fate awaits our protagonist in this new world?

Drifters is an isekai that should not be missed due to its unique style and great action scenes that will keep viewers engrossed.

Its uniqueness lies in its innovative and almost dark plot, which deviates from the typical themes found in the genre.

Additionally, as the characters are from different historical periods and war contexts, some will utilize firearms, adding an interesting element to the show.

4. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat is a 12-episode show released in 2021, and easily one of the best isekai anime with a royal MC in our opinion.

Zagan Anazawa, planet earth’s deadliest assassin, meets his end after being betrayed. But soon after that, agoddess from another world offers him resurrection, but with a catch.

The condition is to kill the hero of that world, under the name of Lugh Thuatha Dé.

This anime is unique in that it presents the classic isekai story from the perspective of the villain, making for an interesting twist on the genre with some cool and futuristic firearms weapons.

We recommend giving it a chance if you’re looking for something a bit different, especially because the villain is the main character of the story.

3. The Twelve Kingdoms

12 Kingdoms

Twelve Kingdoms is a show released in 2002, and that makes it one of the best early isekai anime, based on the light novel by Fuyumi Ono.

Yoko Nakajima is a high school student, bored with her life. This will change when a man, who claims to be from another world, breaks into her classroom, kneeling in front of her.

This elegant character, named Keiki, claims to be her servant and guardian, as she would be his queen.

Thus begins Yoko’s adventure into a fantasy world inhabited by all kinds of creatures, while the girl must figure out in a role-playing game what her role is in that realm.

The setting of this anime wouldn’t allow for any guns to appear but the titular Twelve Kingdoms are different dimensions that can communicate with the real world.

The only firearm appearing during the 45 episodes is a Nambu Model 60, a revolver provided to the Japanese police that will be used many times throughout the show.

The Twelve Kingdom one of the best underrated isekai anime that we’re sure you’ll enjoy it if you’re a fan of the genre.

2. Saga of Tanya the Evil

Saga of Tanya the Evil

Saga of Tanya the Evil is a 12-episode anime based on the light novel written by Carlo Zen, and one of the best isekai anime with an overpowered MC in our opinion.

The protagonist of the story is a cynical salaryman who, after firing one of his employees, will be killed by the latter.

Finding himself facing God and not believing in it, the man gets punished by being catapulted into a parallel world at war in the guise of Tanya Degurechaff. He will have to redeem himself here to have his sins forgiven. Thus begins his military career.

A real breath of fresh air for the Isekai genre, that offers a whole new vision in a realistic war scenario, a protagonist who is anything but heroic and one of the few isekai anime without ecchi.

This is another Isekai set in a warlike scenario so guns and weapons are shown constantly.

Saga of Tanya the Evil has a very interesting premise and you should watch it if you’re looking for an Isekai with an original plot.

1. Gate

Gate

Gate is a 12-episode long Isekai that premiered in the summer of 2015.

Youji Itami is an off-duty Japan Self-Defense Forces officer and she’s about to attend a convention in Tokyo when a mysterious portal appears.

Many supernatural creatures and medieval warriors start to come out of the gate and charge through the Japanese capital to the dismay of those present to witness the scene.

Youji is tasked to lead a recon team beyond the gate into the so-called Special Region to learn more about what they are dealing with and attempt to befriend the locals to reach a peaceful solution.

This is done to avoid a war between the two sides of the gate.

Gate is a show with a militaristic aesthetic so the weapons and the uniforms are quite accurate and very detailed.

If you’re into an Isekai with a plot that has war in the background you should not miss this.
