Power suits and armors have always been cool and powerful, especially in anime. Power-enhancing suits can turn simple and boring characters into real beasts capable of fighting daunting opponents.
Most popular examples include Saint Seiya and even the most recent Symphogear, where suits are prominent.¨

15. Revisions
We open the dances with Revisions, a futuristic anime in the science fiction and mecha genre, which also looks at the psychological aspect of the protagonists.
Daisuke Dojima, the main character, survived an abduction as a child, from which he was rescued by a mysterious woman named Milo.
At the time of his rescue, the woman uttered some very clear words to him: once he grew up, he would be the savior of his friends.
Daisuke was convinced of this, but none of his friends believed him and many turned him away, believing him to be insane. But when one day the world is catapulted 300 years into the apocalyptic future into a world under siege by Revisions, mysterious beings, the prophecy comes true.
The use of power suits, in this case, is really due to the mecha, which end up being actual wearable armor similar to exoskeletons, rather than giant robots.
It’s such a low place in the rankings due to two factors: the animation, which is entirely in unenjoyable CGI, and the plot, which ultimately turns out to be very bland without adding anything of its own.
14. Strike Witches
A very bizarre anime, which can only be enjoyed by lovers of this definable fetish.
Set in the mid-twentieth century of a world much like Earth, Strike Witches stars a number of young girls recruited to fight the mysterious Neuroi.
These beings are the architects of a large-scale invasion of the planet, with the help of their empowering armor.
An anime is not for serious and complicated viewing, but more so for. Nothing too recommendable, however.
13. Hundred
Fairly recent series, released in 2016 in 12 episodes marked by action and fighting but also ecchi with harem elements.
The story revolves around the Hundreds, highly advanced fighting vehicles and the only effective weapon against the Savage, the enemies on duty.
The protagonist, Hayato Kisaragi, travels to the city-academy Little Ship to attend the military academy and become a pilot of Hundred, the wearable exoskeleton armor of the series.
Definitely not an anime to watch if you are looking for great stories, but rather to watch as much for fun and for the ecchi and harem scenes.
12. Infinite Stratos
A fairly successful blend of mecha and science fiction elements with others of a scholastic and sentimental nature with strong harem elements.
The story is set in the IS Academy, a school created for training pilots capable of using the Infinite Stratos, a technological power suit of incredible power that can only be controlled by female pilots.
Something unexpected happens, however: for the first time, in fact, a 15-year-old boy, Ichika Orimura, proves himself capable of piloting the IS.
You may have already figured out where this plot is going and Ichika is the only boy in a female academy. If you are a fan of both genres, then it becomes a good anime.
11. Moldiver
OAV series from 1993, still in the science fiction genre but with comic and, if you will parody, features.
Year 2045: Mirai Ozora is a girl living in Tokyo with her brother Hiroshi, a brilliant inventor of the ZIC company.
One day Hiroshi invents a suit for himself, the Mol-Unit, which can give anyone superpowers, albeit for a limited time of 666 seconds. Mirai, however, accidentally tampers with it and ends up becoming the possessor.
At the same time, two supervillains, Dr. Machinegal and Nozumu appear on the scene, forcing Mirai to become a true superheroine to defend the city.
Light and unpretentious viewing, suitable for those who are looking for action but also comic interludes.
10. Ultraman Series
A series with roots in the 1980s, but which received an animated sequel very recently, in 2019. We recommend both series, but you have to watch the 1980 one first since the new one is a direct sequel.
The main character is Ultraman in the first series, and his son in the second, but both have one thing in common: the fight against aliens while wearing the portentous suit that makes them Ultraman.
One of the forerunners of anime with power suits, a must-see stop for fans of the genre.
9. B’t X
1996 series of 25 episodes, which exudes the 1990s both in animation style used and themes covered.
The story is very simple and linear. Young Teppei, riding his wearable mechanical mount B’t X, battles an evil mechanical empire to rescue his kidnapped brother.
A simple but effective anime from the same author as Saint Seiya but transposed to a futuristic, science fiction setting.
8. Spriggan
Iconic manga of the genre, which has received two different adaptations, one via movie in 1998 and one via 6-episode mini-series this same year, in 2022.
The Spriggans are an elite group of fighters from Arcam, a Japanese multinational corporation that since its founding has been responsible for researching these artifacts and, if necessary, sealing them.
The protagonist is one of them, Yu Ominae, a high schooler with natural fighting skills further enhanced by his armor.
Through the tremendous evolution of this character, we will see religious, technological, and especially humanitarian themes covered in a comprehensive and iconic series.
We recommend that you watch both adaptations, both of which are short, but we consider the movie better for several reasons.
7. Birdy the Mighty Decode
Multi-season anime released since 2008, distinguished by very colorful and enjoyable animation. In this case, the power suit discord is different and peculiar, as you will now see.
We will see the protagonist Birdy Cephon Altera, a Space Federation inspector in charge of pursuing and catching interplanetary criminals together with her power suit.
One day, she accidentally kills a high school boy during one of her missions and gripped by the guilt she decides to undergo an operation to make the boy live inside his own body, sharing two identities in one body.
6. Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor
A 26-episode anime released in 2005, based on a 1985 manga that also inspired a 1990s American film.
Sho is an ordinary high school student who accidentally comes into possession of a Guyver. It’s a powerful bio-armor capable of both protecting the possessor from enemy attacks and striking targets with its powers.
He will thus begin his battle against Cronos, a secret organization, in order to defend the world from his lust for power.
One of the forerunners of the genre, which you cannot miss if you are a fan of the theme.
5. Garo: The Carved Seal of Flames
The animated adaptation of one of the most famous live-action TV series in Japanese history, released in 2014.
We are in the fictional Kingdom of Valiant. Under the influence of his adviser, the ailing and dying king unleashes a hunt against the Makai Knights and Priestesses, fingered for unleashing a curse on the kingdom.
During the execution of one of these priestesses, she performs a miracle, giving birth in flames to a son, Leòn Luis.
Saved from death by his father, the child is raised by the latter to become the one who will inherit the highest title, the knight in golden armor, Garo.
As you can imagine, this armor and others in the series bestow enormous powers on the wearer, making the possessor a noble and feared warrior.
An iconic series, a cult in Japanese lands, that also manages to merge the power suit subgenre with some of the best sword fighting.
4. Ronin Warriors
A very old anime, released in 1988 in 39 episodes, which makes action and fighting its strong points.
Defeated centuries earlier by the heroic Kaosu, the powerful evil spirit Arago, born of the negative feelings of human beings, awakens in modern times with the intention of enslaving humanity.
Fighting him will be five warriors who inherit samurai armor, endowed with extraordinary powers, forged by the legendary Kaosu himself.
What can somewhat be called the precursor of power suit fighting anime remains enjoyable and in its own way modern despite its release date.
3. Bubblegum Crisis
An 8-episode OAV series released in the winter of 1987, with strong science fiction and mecha background.
Year 2025, an earthquake destroyed Tokyo only to be rebuilt with the help of Boomers, androids. Years pass and these robots are increasingly developed, even becoming dangerous due to certain experiments.
Sylia Stingray, the billionaire daughter of the scientist who invented the Boomers, continued her father’s research on Hard Suit mechanized armor. She then recruited three girls who, together with her, form the Knight Sabers mercenary group.
The group, together with Sylia’s brother, will become a band of vigilantes each night who rid the city of the Boomers’ menace.
An out-of-the-box mecha series that oozes the ’80s and that is a must just for its vintage and nostalgic style.
2. Symphogear
Symphogear combines musical elements with Majokko elements, creating a novel and interesting product.
Hibiki Tachibana goes to attend a concert by her favorite singers: the Zwei Wing, a duo formed by Kanade Amou and Tsubasa Kazanari. During the concert, mysterious beings attack the auditorium, causing death and destruction.
The two singers begin to confront the enemies wearing special armor using the power of music. Two years later, however, with the incident now over, Hibiki begins to develop the same powers.
If you are looking for a Majokko anime that is different from others because of the combination of the element of music, then don’t think twice.
1. Saint Seiya
Based on the world-famous manga by Masami Kurumada comes the Saint Seiya anime, one of the best action anime focused on fighting scenes.
At the Palace of Tournaments, the Galactic War is periodically convened, where the chosen Saints, protector knights of the goddess Athena gather.
This is to face each other and win the legendary Golden Armor that bestows unimaginable powers when worn. Prominent among them is Pegasus, the protagonist, but villains are as always ready to intrude.
The zodiac component is very pronounced here, with each warrior drawing his power from a different constellation of it, each with a different power suit that gives the warrior different abilities.
