The 5 Anime Where MC Goes From Fat To Fit (Crazy Glow Ups)

We have become accustomed, most of the time, to see characters in anime who are incredibly thin and have physiques like Greek gods, especially the main characters.

But this is not always the case, and we also have examples of fat main characters who become thin for various reasons.

And this is always used to create the beginnings of a good storyline, with the main character becoming fit to take their revenge in life.

As always this listicle is purely based on our opinions and knowledge.

5. Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV – Prompto Argentum

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV is a 5-episode-only anime that is predictably based on Square Enix’s video game Final Fantasy XV.

In these 5 episodes we will see the origins and an in-depth look at the characters of the original game, so Noctis and his companions Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto.

And Prompto will make a glow-up from fat to fit. As those who played the game will know before he met Noctis, he was an overweight and lonely boy.

This new motivation allowed him to become thin and ready for action.

This anime isn’t really good per se but you should contextualize its story to the videogame, so only fans can watch this show

4. One Piece – Usopp

One Piece

Many of you may already be wondering why this inclusion is necessary, but know that all crew members are considered MCs, so Usopp is too.

Because of certain events midway through the story, we will have a time-skip where each character will be sent to a different part of the incredible world of One Piece.

Usopp, fortunately or not, will end up on an island overflowing with food, where he will give in to temptation and become incredibly fat.

But when it’s time to get back into shape to join his crew and captain again, it won’t take him long to find his willpower and become fit again.

3. Kiss Him Not Me – Kae Serinuma

Kiss Him, Not Me

The protagonist of Kiss Him Not Me is a girl called Kae Serinuma.

At the beginning of the show, she is overweight due to eating disorders, and she can’t help but fantasize about her male classmates falling in love with her.

After falling into a depression she loses a lot of weight, causing her male classmates to start noticing her. They all want to seduce her but she tries to make them fall for each other.

Kiss Him Not Me is an excellent reverse harem that among its main themes talks about eating disorders, thus combining one of the best romance with a depressed MC with psychological themes.

Excellent if you looking for an anime where the bullied protagonist takes his moral revenge and changes her life for good.

2. Yuri!!! On Ice – Yuri Katsuki

Yuri!! on Ice

Yuri!!! On Ice is a highly acclaimed and award-winning sports anime that has ice skating as its central theme, with added comic and yaoi sentimental elements.

The story has as its centerpiece Yuuri Katsuki, a 23-year-old hope of Japanese ice skating who has suffered a bitter defeat in a major competition that destroys him psychologically. This makes him gain a lot of weight too.

Undecided whether to continue in the sport or not, he will be shaken by Victor Nikiforov, a Russian talent who will also offer to become his mentor.

Thus, Yuuri’s desire to play the sport will return, becoming fit again and ready to take his revenge.

If you are a fan of skating, we shouldn’t be the ones to tell you: don’t miss it. Another great reason to see it are the breathtaking animations, done by MAPPA, the more in-vogue studio of the moment.

And the same goes if you like Yaoi mechanics: Yuuri and Victor will be a great couple beautiful to behold and develop a healthy and intriguing love relationship.

1. Masamune Kun Revenge – Masamune Akabe

Masamune-kun's Revenge

When he was little Masamune was a chubby boy due to eating disorders, and he was bullied by a girl called Aki Adagaki, who kept calling him piggy.

This took a toll on young Masamune, who decided to act and get revenge on the girl.

He planned to lose weight, become cool and seduce the girl to have the possibility to reject her and break her heart.

This backfires spectacularly as the boy ends up falling in love with Aki. It turns out that she liked him even back then but was unable to express her feelings properly.

This show is entertaining due to the plot devices and the fun vibes and is one a good choice if you are looking for anime where enemies become lovers.

It certainly won’t have a complex plot full of twists and turns, but if you’re looking for a romcom and one of the best romance with a cool MC then it might be for you.
